Group B is the most legendary chapter in rally history. Active from 1982 to 1986, Group B imposed very few restrictions on car manufacturers, triggering an extraordinary era of technological innovation. These mid-engined or front-engined, often four-wheel drive machines produced well over 400-500 hp from turbocharged engines, with power-to-weight ratios that remain extraordinary even today. The Group B era ended following a series of fatal accidents during the 1986 season, which led the FIA to ban the class at the end of that year.
